Susan Everhard has spent most of her life, “messing about in boats”. Her first job was renting boats at her family’s marina in her hometown of Oshkosh, Wisconsin. She later attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison; racing in regattas with the “Hoofer’s Sailing Club”. After graduating with a BA degree in English and Journalism; Susan headed south to tropical Miami Beach, so she could sail year round.
In the early 1980’s, Susan’s family founded Florida Yacht Charters & Sales; a yacht dealership; yacht brokerage; bareboat charter fleet and ASA certified sailing school. The company expanded to Key West and Marsh Harbour, Bahamas with an average of 40 charter vessels under management. Susan became a licensed yacht broker and the company’s President. She gained hands-on experience dealing with all types of marine insurance (and the occasional hurricane!) After 25 years at the helm; Susan sold the business.
Susan joined Global Marine Insurance as a marine underwriter and is a Florida licensed 220 agent and 120 surplus lines agent based in Miami. Susan enjoys helping clients realize their boat ownership dreams. She provides practical solutions for commercial charter vessels; cruisers and live-aboards; and other marine businesses. She and her family currently own a classic Bertram 33’ sport fishing boat named “Magica” and enjoy exploring the Florida Keys and Bahamas.
